Shion
Rotorua-based therapist offering relaxation and deep tissue massage. Steady hands, quiet rooms, and a session shaped around how you arrive.
Founded as Massage Me Day Spa in October 2013 by Jenny and Bill, renamed Massage Eden in 2018. Today eight therapists work across three studios (Auckland CBD, Parnell, and Rotorua) with the same approach that started it: relax, without the performance of relaxing.
Massage Eden began as Massage Me Day Spa, opened in October 2013 by Jenny and Bill. What started as a passion project (one room, a small idea, a belief that massage therapy should feel accessible rather than aspirational) grew slowly into what the business is now.
In 2018 the business renamed to Massage Eden. The change was part rebrand, part reset: a fresh chapter, and a chance to commit more fully to what the practice had become. The focus shifted toward hospitality-inflected therapy: warm rooms, low lighting, a small ritual that framed the treatment rather than decorated it.
By 2026 the business runs across three studios: Auckland CBD, Parnell, and Rotorua. Eight experienced therapists rotate across the sites. Twelve years in, the brief hasn't changed. Help the person on the table feel better, and trust that if you do it honestly enough, they come back.
A look inside a Massage Eden session.
Our approach is plain. Massage therapy works when the therapist is paying close attention and the client is allowed to stop paying attention to anything else. Everything we do is in service of that exchange.
We hire for technical ability first: good hands, trained across enough modalities that the session can adapt to what each body asks for on the day. But we also hire for temperament. The best therapist technique in the world doesn't land if the room doesn't feel right. So we look for people who carry themselves with warmth, who are curious about the craft, and who keep learning years into the work.
What that means for you: no upsell scripts, no ritual theatre, no flowery booking language. You arrive, you say what you need or let us guess, and the hour is held for your nervous system, not for anyone's marketing objectives.
