What it is

A couples massage is two people on two tables, worked on at the same time, in the same room, by two therapists. Everything that happens on the table is the same as a solo Body Massage — the same therapists, the same techniques, the same choice of modality — only there's a second person on the second table beside you. People book it for anniversaries, birthdays, post-wedding wind-downs, as a gift voucher, or simply because going together feels better than going alone. You don't have to get the same treatment as the person next to you; one can have deep tissue, the other relaxation. You don't have to talk; plenty of couples arrive, get worked on in parallel silence, and leave loose together.

Why it works

What you get for your hour.

  • The experience of going together

Most people remember the fact of going together more than the specifics of the treatment. Shared start, shared end, the walk out afterwards — an hour of bodywork becomes an afternoon you both had.

  • Same hands-on quality, two people

The therapists in the couples room are the same ones who work our solo Body Massage sessions — same training, same modalities, same approach. You get the full treatment, twice, not a lighter version for the crowd.

  • Flexible pairing

Synchronised if you want the strokes to move in unison, or independent if you'd rather each follow your own pace. Pressure, technique, and modality are chosen individually — the format is shared, not the plan.

  • Gift-friendly

Couples is the most common gift-voucher purchase we handle. One voucher covers both people, lets the recipients pick time and location, and can be redeemed at any of our three studios.

Who it helps

Shaped to what you arrive with.

Couples isn't booked for a specific injury the way a solo remedial session usually is. People book it around shared moments — a long week you both want to switch off from, a wedding or graduation weekend, the Sunday after travel, the anniversary of something worth marking. The value is in treating two nervous systems at once. Both of you leave looser, both in the same mood — easier to carry into the rest of the day than if only one of you had been on the table. If only one of you wants the treatment, see Body Massage.

Techniques included

Every modality, one session.

You don't pick a technique when you book. Your therapist draws on whichever of these fit the body in front of them : often several in the same hour.

  • Matched relaxation

Both of you receive a slow, Swedish-style relaxation massage — light to medium pressure, long flowing strokes, warm sheets. The most common pick for date nights, birthdays, and post-wedding unwinds.

  • Mixed pairings

One books deep tissue for the knots in the neck and lower back; the other books relaxation for a straight hour of switching off. Same room, same time. Common when one of you trains and the other doesn't.

  • Matched deep tissue

Both of you book firmer work for the areas that carry the load — lower back, hips, neck and shoulders. Useful when you've both had a heavy week, trained together, or spent too many hours at the same desk.

  • Your combination

Each person chooses independently. One remedial, one Thai; one aromatherapy, one deep tissue. The therapist talks with each of you at the start and builds the session from there.

What to expect

On the day.

90min

Arrival. Arrive together, five to ten minutes early. You'll both fill out the same intake form as a solo session, then your therapists bring you through together.

The room. Two tables side by side, enough space between them for both therapists to work freely, a privacy drape on the door, low lighting. You can talk, stay silent, or fall asleep — the room holds both.

If plans change. If one of you can't make it, the booking converts to a solo Body Massage for the other person at the solo rate — tell us as soon as you can. Cancellation policy is the same as any booking: 24 hours' notice.

Common questions

Before you book.

  • Do we have to get the same treatment?

No. One of you can book deep tissue, the other relaxation — or any other combination. Each therapist talks with their client at the start and works that session independently. The shared thing is the room and the time, not the technique.

  • Can we book a couples massage as a gift?

Yes. Gift vouchers can be purchased online or in person at any of our locations. You can buy a voucher for a specific treatment — like a 60-minute Couples Massage — or for an open value the recipient redeems when booking. Either works as a gift.

  • What if one of us can't make it?

Let us know as soon as you can. If we have 24 hours' notice, the booking converts to a solo Body Massage for the other person at the solo rate, or reschedules for another day. Same-day no-shows incur our standard cancellation fee.

  • Which locations have couples rooms?

Couples treatments are offered at all three locations — Auckland CBD, Parnell, and Rotorua. Each studio has a dedicated couples room with two tables side by side.
