Get into it properly.
Deep Tissue Massage in Auckland CBD, Parnell and Rotorua: 30 to 120 minute sessions from $65.
Deep tissue massage is the treatment to book when a relaxation rub will not cut it. Our therapists use slower strokes and sustained firm pressure to work the deeper layers of muscle and fascia, releasing the chronic tension that builds up across the back, neck and legs. Available seven days a week at Massage Eden Auckland CBD, Parnell and Rotorua, in thirty, sixty, ninety or one hundred and twenty minute sessions from $65.
Deep tissue massage is firm, deliberate work for muscle that has held tension for a long time. Where a relaxation massage glides across the surface, deep tissue slows down and presses into the deeper layers of muscle and the fascia that wraps them, breaking down the knots that build up from repetitive strain, hard training or hours at a desk. At Massage Eden in Auckland CBD, Parnell and Rotorua, your therapist works methodically through the areas that carry the load: the lower back and glutes, the upper traps and neck, the calves and hamstrings after a heavy week. The pressure is sustained rather than rushed, because deeper muscle only releases when it is given time. You choose a duration from thirty to one hundred and twenty minutes, tell the therapist where the tension sits, and they spend the session getting into it properly.

Arrival. Arrive five to ten minutes early to fill out a short intake form covering any injuries, your pressure preference, and areas to avoid.
The room. Undress to your comfort level. Professional draping is used throughout, so only the area being worked is ever uncovered. Deep tissue is most effective on bare skin where the therapist can read the muscle directly.
Communication. Speak up early and often. Deep pressure is personal, so say more, less, lighter or deeper as you go. The best session is the one you shaped honestly while it was happening.
Afterward. The areas worked deeply can feel tender for a day, so drink water and take it easy. For a specific problem, book a follow-up in one to two weeks; for maintenance, every three to four weeks works well.

Does deep tissue massage hurt?
Deep tissue massage uses firmer pressure than a relaxation massage, so you'll feel the work, particularly across tight or knotted areas. It should register as productive pressure rather than sharp pain. Your therapist at Massage Eden Auckland CBD, Parnell or Rotorua checks in as they go and adjusts the moment you ask for more or less. The areas worked deeply can feel slightly tender for a day afterward, which is normal.
